Christmas in the Park brings Community together in the South Bay
Christmas in the park is a 2.5 acre holiday event that features over 500 decorated Christmas trees, 50 animated exhibits, free visits with Santa, food and entertainment all in the heart of Cesar Chavez Park in San Jose. It has been no easy feat for the event to take place as it has in the park, for the last 39 years.
Roughly 700,000 visitors come to the Park every year. It takes a village of Santa’s helpers to put this event on. The history of Christmas in the Park begins in the 1950’s with the Lima Family creating a Christmas display on their front lawn, which grew over the years and was finally donated to the City of San Jose in the 70’s.
